Edith spent three years in Auschwitz, enduring unimaginable horrors. She was forced to work as a slave laborer, and she witnessed the deaths of countless fellow prisoners. But through it all, she never gave up hope.

In 1945, Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet Army. Edith was one of the few survivors of the camp. She weighed only 68 pounds and was suffering from typhus.

After the war, Edith immigrated to the United States. She married a man named Fred Beer and had two children. She dedicated her life to speaking out about the Holocaust and promoting peace.

Edith's Escape from Auschwitz

In 1944, Edith and her husband Fred decided to escape from Auschwitz. They knew that they were risking their lives, but they were determined to be free.

They planned their escape for months. They gathered food and supplies, and they made a map of the camp. On the night of their escape, they slipped out of their barracks and made their way to the edge of the camp.

They were almost caught by the guards, but they managed to escape into the forest. They wandered through the forest for days, hiding from the Nazis. Finally, they reached the safety of the Soviet lines.

Edith and Fred's escape from Auschwitz was a daring and dangerous undertaking. But they were determined to be free, and they never gave up hope.

Edith's Legacy

After the war, Edith Hahn Beer dedicated her life to speaking out about the Holocaust. She spoke to students, community groups, and political leaders about the horrors that she had witnessed.
