Chad Rowan is an American author, sailor, and adventurer. He is best known for his book 'Latitude 20', which chronicles his two-year solo sailing journey around the world.

Early Life and Education

Chad Rowan was born in 1962 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in a sailing family and spent much of his childhood on the water. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in English literature.

Sailing Career

After graduating from college, Rowan worked as a commercial fisherman and sailing instructor. In 1990, he set out on his first solo sailing journey, circumnavigating the Pacific Ocean. This journey took him over 27,000 miles and lasted for two years.

In 2000, Rowan set out on his second solo sailing journey, this time around the world. This journey took him over 30,000 miles and lasted for three years. He wrote about his experiences in his book 'Latitude 20', which was published in 2004.

Writing Career

In addition to 'Latitude 20', Rowan has also written several other books about sailing and adventure. These include 'The Navigator: A Memoir of Voyages and Discovery' (2010),'The Edge of the Horizon: A Journey Around the World in a Wooden Boat' (2013),and 'Between the Lines: A Life in Writing' (2017).
