For over 30 years, the Michigan Writers Series has been bringing some of the world's most celebrated authors to Michigan. From Toni Morrison to Salman Rushdie to Margaret Atwood, the series has featured a who's who of literary giants.

I've been attending the Michigan Writers Series for over 20 years, and it has had a profound impact on my life. I've discovered new authors, been inspired by their work, and made lifelong friends.

The Michigan Writers Series is more than just a literary event. It's a community of readers and writers who come together to celebrate the power of the written word.

One of my favorite things about the Michigan Writers Series is the sense of intimacy. The events are typically held in small venues, which gives attendees a chance to get up close and personal with the authors. I've had the opportunity to meet and talk with some of my favorite writers, and it's always been a memorable experience.

Another thing I love about the Michigan Writers Series is the diversity of the authors who are featured. The series brings together writers from all over the world, and from all walks of life. This gives attendees a chance to hear a wide range of perspectives and experiences.

I've been to many literary events over the years, but the Michigan Writers Series is by far my favorite. It's a unique and special event that I look forward to every year.

Here are a few of my favorite memories from the Michigan Writers Series:

* Hearing Toni Morrison read from her novel "Beloved" in 1987. It was an incredibly moving experience, and I'll never forget it. * Meeting Salman Rushdie in 1993. He was so gracious and kind, and I was so honored to have the opportunity to talk with him about his work. * Seeing Margaret Atwood read from her novel "The Handmaid's Tale" in 2017. It was a powerful and timely performance, and it left me feeling inspired and hopeful.

The Michigan Writers Series has had a profound impact on my life. It's introduced me to new authors, inspired me to write, and helped me to connect with a community of readers and writers. I'm so grateful for the Michigan Writers Series, and I hope it continues to bring great literature to Michigan for many years to come.
